What is 1045 chrome plated bar?
1045 hard chrome plated bar is also called 1045 chrome bar or 1045 chrome rod for short sometimes, it is the hard chrome plated shafts made of steel grade SAE 1045.
1045 chrome plated rod is a medium tensile carbon steel SAE 1045 supplied in the cold drawn or turned, precision ground, polished, chrome plated and final polished condition. The tensile strength of SAE 1045 steel is 670 – 800 Mpa, and yield strength around 520 Mpa (75Ksi).
Steel grade SAE 1045 is equivalent to German standard grade of CK45 or C45, so this product is also known as CK45 chrome plated rod or CK45 Chrome Bar. Here below is the chemical composition and mechanical properties of SAE 1045 and CK45.

- Hard Chrome Plated Thickness:
Our 1045 chrome bar normally is with chrome plated thickness of Min. 20Microns (0.0008″) ;
And other chrome plated thickness available on customers request, max. 100microns.
Our factory’s chrome bars can pass the salt spray tested to 72h/96h/200h in accordance with ASTM B-117 upon clients requests. - Surface roughness:
The surface roughness of our factory’s 1045 hard chrome plated rods is around Ra0.2μm(8 Ra), max. Ra0.4μm (16 Ra).
